Popular Spring Break Procedures

posted in Body ,Breast Enhancement ,Tummy Tuck by Dan

It’s almost time for Spring Break. For students and teachers alike, Spring Break is a welcome vacation from the rigors of school. Which means it can also be a prime time to look into some Spring Break procedures. That’s because this break–usually anywhere between 7-10 days–can be a good time to undergo a plastic surgery procedure you’ve had your eye on for a while.

What Are Some Popular Spring Break Procedures?

To be clear, it’s not as though you can visit a surgeon on the Monday of Spring Break for the first time and be back in school by the time break is over. Almost all procedures that are performed over a Spring Break (or any break, for that matter), have been planned out far in advance. The consultations that got the ball rolling usually started weeks before the actual procedure, though the specific timing will depend on you and your surgeon.

Second, we should make clear that we’re not talking about teenagers getting plastic surgery over spring break. Most surgeons dissuade teens from getting plastic surgery for a wide variety of reasons. But there are plenty of moms, teachers, and college students who are good candidates for plastic surgery. And these Spring Break procedures are a good opportunity in that way.

Tummy Tuck Over Spring Break

One of the most highly demanded so-called Spring Break procedures is a tummy tuck. This is interesting, because we think what most people mean is that they want to have their tummy tuck results ready to show by Spring Break! And that makes sense. There are plenty of beaches to hit around here!

Tummy tuck is a surgical procedure designed to eliminate unwanted tissue and skin from around the belly area. It’s specifically designed to target skin, so it’s also sometimes paired with a liposuction procedure if you’re more worried about excess fat.

The recovery period for this procedure is a little on the longer side. You should expect to take at least a couple of weeks off of work, depending on how substantial your surgery is. But if you get the timing right, you can be ready for Spring Break thanks (in part) to your tummy tuck.

Can You Recover Quickly?

It’s not uncommon for patients over spring break to request procedures that they can recovery quickly from. And those procedures certainly exist! Dr. Polsen offers a wide variety of minimally invasive plastic surgery options. It is important to point out, however, that everyone will respond to surgery differently and heal at different rates. So it’s important that you discuss your goals with Dr. Polsen during your consultation.

If you’re looking for procedures that offer a fast recovery period, you might want to look further into:

  • Botox and other injectables: Botox and dermal fillers such as Juvederm or Voluma function very differently. But they have one thing in common: they can make your face look a little more youthful without the need for surgery. The results tend to be subtle, but these injectables have the benefit of not requiring any downtime on the part of the patient.
  • Breast enhancement: Now, most breast enhancement procedures, such as breast augmentation or breast lift, aren’t necessarily minimally invasive. It depends on the technique of the surgeon. But most patients can be back to work in a week’s time or so. How long before you can safely exercise might vary (so you should speak with your surgeon before doing anything strenuous). That said, breast augmentation and breast lift procedures are both quite popular as “Spring Break” procedures.
  • Liposuction: Now, liposuction is indeed minimally invasive. Most liposuction procedures only require an incision a couple of centimeters in length. However, liposuction can cause significant swelling. So this is another procedure where it’s good to take a week or so off of work. But liposuction is nice because it can target a wide variety of areas.

These won’t be your only options, of course. There are many procedures that can be performed over spring break. The best way to find out which one is right for you is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Polsen and discuss your options.

Results May Not be Immediate

Even though you might be able to effectively recover over Spring Break, your results from any of these surgical procedures might be final or apparent by the time you return to work. For teachers, college students, and those who happen to get the time off, Spring Break can be a great vacation to take advantage of if you’ve been thinking about plastic surgery.

The idea is that you can go away for Spring Break and come back to work looking refreshed and rejuvenated–and transformed. Sometimes, when surgery is performed in this manner, people won’t even notice you’ve had work done. They’ll just notice that you look great!
