Lower Body Lift
The Solution After Weight Loss
Lower body lifts are most beneficial for those who have recently lost significant weight. Excessive skin can often leave a major weight loss transformation feeling unfinished. This can be significantly frustrating for someone who has invested years of diet and exercise into completing a body transformation. But excess skin that has, over the years, lost its elasticity, simply cannot be targeted by further diet or exercise, and cosmetic surgery may be the only option to eliminating that tissue.
Dr. Polsen works with body lift patients in the Clear Lake Houston Area and has experience with many different sets of desired outcomes. However, all patients want the body they worked for. Removing excess skin and tightening your shape will reveal desired curves or musculature and add definition to your body shape.
A lower body lift is a major procedure, however, and may require an overnight hospital stay. When you contact Dr. Polsen, he can help you navigate the procedure and ensure that you end up with the definition you want. To schedule a consultation, contact us online or call our Clear Lake office at (281) 538-6600.

Who is a Good Candidate?
The best lower body lift candidates posses the following traits:
- They are healthy enough to withstand major surgery
- They have recently lost a lot of weight and their situation has stabilized
- They have realistic expectations of their results and have found that even these results are unachievable with diet and exercise
Dr. Polsen will also likely want to ensure that you will be able to devote at least 2-4 weeks to your recovery, and, for example, will not feel undue pressure to return to work early.
The Procedure
Lower body lifts are performed under general anesthesia. Because a significant amount of tissue is likely to be eliminated, it’s paramount that the procedure be safe and minimize loss of blood. This means that it takes time. The longer you’re under anesthesia, the more uncomfortable recovery will be, due to the anesthetics required to keep you unconscious for an extended period of time.
Dr. Polsen takes care to make all his surgical scars as hidden as possible. Patients will often elect to undergo liposuction in conjunction with a lower body lift for a more dramatic final transformation.
Recovery
Lower body surgery is a major commitment and the recovery process must be taken seriously. Dr. Polsen will provide the detailed post-operative care instructions which will be necessary to have a successful recovery from lower body surgery. It may be necessary to stay in the hospital for a night or two. After at least 2 weeks of home recovery you will be able to return to work, and after about 6 weeks Dr. Polsen’s patients may resume light activity.
