Looking at Some Lesser Known Facial Plastic Surgery Procedures
Looking at Some Powerful Facial Procedures
The human face is an exceptional bit of anatomy. It’s responsible not only for a few basic functions of living (seeing, smelling, eating, and so on), but it’s also responsible for how we identify one another. The human face is inseparable from our very identities. And yet, the term “face” is something of a misnomer.
After all, our faces are composed of many different components. There’s the eyes, the ears, the nose, the hairline, the lips—the list keeps going. That makes the face a particularly complex piece of anatomy. Perhaps that helps to explain why so many plastic surgery procedures focus on the face. These procedures may not be as famous as the ever present “facelift,” but they are important nonetheless.
In fact, we feel that it might be important to shed some light on the various face procedures available today.
Benefits of Facial Plastic Surgery
- Many facial procedures are minimally invasive
- You get a significant impact for a relatively minor procedure
- Many facial procedures involve relatively minor recovery time
- You can look more youthful and more energetic
- You can address specific areas that are causing issues
Blepharoplasty For Younger Looking Eyes
One of the most popular facial plastic surgery procedures available today is called blepharoplasty. If that name sounds complicated, just remember that blepharoplasty is, essentially, an eyelid lift. As you age, excess skin can accumulate around the eyes, causing a significant amount of wrinkles and lines to develop. These lines and wrinkles can make you look older and more worn out that you actually feel.
In some cases, the excess tissue can actually cause an impairment to the vision. The solution is a procedure called an eyelid lift. During an eyelid lift, the excess tissue around the eyes is removed. This means that the patient is able to see better, the patient looks more youthful, and the face looks rejuvenated.
It’s difficult to overestimate the importance of the eyes. If you want proof of that, all you need to do is take a look at the plethora of clichés that have been written about these “windows to the soul.” That’s why eyelid lifts are particularly popular—for such a small procedure, it makes a big impact!
Earlobe Surgery
One of the other facial procedures that is not nearly as well known—but which is still quite powerful—is earlobe surgery. After all, the earlobes are themselves quite important to the overall proportion of the face. And there are a couple of issues that might cause patients to look at earlobe surgery:
- Earlobes that are too big or protrude too far and, therefore, put the face out of balance
- Torn, traumatized, or damaged earlobes that need to be repaired
Earlobe surgery is usually a relatively quick procedure, focusing on repair the aesthetic issue in question. Sometimes that means reconstructing a piece of the earlobe (as is the case with torn earlobe procedures).
Sometimes that means securing the earlobe further back into the head, so an protrusion is lessened. And sometimes that means decreasing the size of the ear overall. This procedure is performed on a wide variety of patients, who almost universally rave about the results. The reason is that earlobe surgery can restore proportion back to the face.
Neck Lift
While the facelift is quite popular, the neck lift is less well known. And yet, a neck lift procedure can help achieve the overall look that they want. Imagine you get a facelift—and you look ten years younger; that is, as long as no one looks at your neck. For some patients, a more youthful looking face and a static neck can cause a kind of discontinuity that can diminish the effectiveness of the overall procedure.
That’s where a neck lift comes in. This procedure is designed to eliminate wrinkles, lines, and (most importantly) excess skin around the neck. The neck is then left smooth and much more youthful looking. As a way to compliment a facelift or simply a way to subtly reinforce your youthfulness, Neck Lift procedures are a great option.
Other Facial Procedure Options
By no means are these three procedures the only facial plastic surgery procedure options. In fact, other options include:
- Rhinoplasty: We didn’t go into much depth on this procedure because it’s so popular; but rhinoplasty is designed to change your nose
- Botox and Other Injectables: Botox does a great job of mitigating certain wrinkles on the face without the need for surgery
- Brow Lift: This procedure focuses on eliminating wrinkles and lines on the brow or in the forehead area
