How Can I Look Younger?

posted in Botox ,Face ,Skin by nseben

One of the most common stated goals of plastic surgery patients is pretty simple: they want to look younger. But what that means is far from universal. Indeed, every patient is going to have his or her individual desires when it comes to achieving a more youthful look.

For Patients Wondering: How Can I look Younger?

But there are some common threads. It won’t be shocking, for example, if we suppose that wrinkles and lines are signs of aging in the skin. The problem is that those wrinkles aren’t the only signs of aging. In fact, there are other forms of aging that almost sneak up on us.

Thankfully, there are several plastic surgery procedures that, whatever sign of aging you’re looking to address, can help make you look more youthful. Sometimes that means a little Botox or an injection of a dermal filler. Sometimes that means something a little bit different.

Making the Face Look Younger

When most people think about aging, they might think about lines and wrinkles on the face. Indeed, these are often the first visible signs of “aging” (at least in those terms—our bodies are, of course, aging every day). So when we see a wrinkle around our mouth get a bit more pronounced or those crow’s feet around our eyes get deeper, we might want to do something to change that. When the wrinkles are more prominent, however, our approach to looking more youthful changes.

When it comes to the face itself, there are many procedures that can help you fight the effects of aging—at least in appearance. Procedures that can make your face look younger include the following:

  • Botox: Perhaps the most famous and popular cosmetic procedure in the world, Botox has been used to help millions of patients eliminate lines and wrinkles around the face. Botox is a temporary solution, however. The effects will last somewhere around three to six months. That said, if you like the results, you can always get regular maintenance injections to keep those results looking good. Botox is generally used to treat small areas of subtle wrinkles. But that subtle effect can often make a big impact.
  • Facelift: One way that patients can look younger is to get a facelift! Perhaps the most well known plastic surgery procedures that’s devoted to making one look younger, a facelift can eliminate wide swaths of wrinkles, lines, and excess skin. This is done because, as you age, you tend to develop a significant amount of excess skin around the face (blame gravity). That excess skin can lead to wrinkles (among other things). A facelift is able to address all of these issues in a comprehensive way, meaning you can look more youthful in a broad way—rather than eliminating a wrinkle or two, facelift procedures can take years off your face.
  • Blepharoplasty: It might sound a little odd, but eyelid lift procedures (known medically as blepharoplasty) are another good way of making your face look younger. As you age, skin can accumulate around the eyelids, making you look significantly older and more depressed or fatigued than you might actually feel. Eliminating the excess skin around your eyes can have a significant impact on the way you appear overall. Patients who have undergone an eyelid lift note that they look more alert, awake, and content. They also look significantly younger. This is, in large part, due to the fact that the eyes are a focus point on the human face. They are, as the saying goes, the windows to the soul. In other words, a small change to the eyes can lead to a big improvement in how you’re perceived (both by yourself and by others).

There are other ways you can make your face look a bit more youthful, of course. A brow lift could help. So too could a neck lift (that’s particularly true if your neck is especially wrinkled or if you have also gotten a facelift procedure performed). Making the Body Look Younger

The surprising thing is that sometimes making your face look younger isn’t the goal. Sometimes it’s changing your body that can help you appear a little more youthful. That’s because as you age, your body changes—sometimes in not entirely subtle or flattering ways. That’s why there are several plastic surgery procedures that are designed to return your body to a more youthful looking profile.

Procedures that can help your body look younger include the following:

  • Breast Lift: As you age, the orientation of the breasts can change. This happens for a wide variety of reasons (including the ever-present pull of gravity). Sagging breasts can make you feel older than you’re ready to, so the solution is a procedure called a breast lift. During a breast lift, excess tissue will be removed and the breasts will be returned to a more youthful orientation. The profile of your breasts will look more energetic and buoyant. In other words, the profile of your body will appear to be much younger. There are other benefits to a breast lift, and the procedure is often paired with a breast reduction in order to achieve the maximum effect for certain patients. The end result, though, is a look that is significantly more youthful.
  • Tummy Tuck: If you’re thinking about looking younger, you might not immediately consider a tummy tuck as a way to do that. But we tend to collect some excess skin around our bellies as we age. Additionally, our abdominal muscles tend to become somewhat lax (life events such as pregnancy and child birth can speed this process up). A tummy tuck can help you eliminate unwanted excess skin from around the belly area. Additionally, many tummy tuck procedures can also add some stability and strength to your abdominal muscles. This means that, when the procedure is finished and you’re fully recovered, your tummy will look leaner, smoother, and much more youthful!

Looking Younger the Way You Want to

Every person is going to have certain areas of the body where aging is more pronounced than others. Additionally, everyone is going to have certain aspects of aging that are especially bothersome. This means that addressing aging will look different based on, well, your personality and your individuality.

That’s one of the reasons why so many plastic surgery procedures and techniques exist in the first place. Surgeons are trying to give you the best possible results for your particular situation and your unique needs. That’s why a tummy tuck to look a bit younger might sound surprising to you—but it’s definitely right for someone!
