Great Procedures to Try in 2017
We’re almost at the point of the year where we’ve got to start thinking about, well, next year. We usually frame this as a kind of “New Year’s Resolution.” What we really mean by the “resolution” is, simply: what do we want to accomplish next year? The year of 2016 has certainly been a rollercoaster (and there are plenty of memes out there expressing sour sentiment towards 2016).
So what will the next year bring? What should you do in 2017? Well, we’ve got a few suggestions for you. There are several plastic surgery procedures out there that address common New Year’s Resolutions. In other words, if your New Year’s Resolution involves somehow changing the way you look, we might have the answer for you.
New Procedures to Try in 2017
Keep in mind, of course, that our focus is pretty narrow—we’re used to thinking about plastic surgery! These procedures can offer great results, but it’s important to emphasize that only you can decide when you’re ready for plastic surgery and what you want your final results to look like.
All right, without further ado, let’s take a look at some great plastic surgery procedures to try in 2017.
Resolution #1: Slimming Down
Perhaps the most popular New Year’s Resolutions out there (and data backs this up) are the ones that have to do with slimming down or otherwise altering one’s weight. We’re not even including resolutions like “get healthier” or “go to the gym more.” And that’s because, frankly, controlling the shape of your body through diet and exercise is really, really hard. If you’re going to be successful it usually involves significant energy and focus (that’s why people use a resolution to get them started).
But your body won’t always cooperate fully. That is, diet and exercise can only exert so much control. There will inevitably be parts of your body that don’t respond, and these stubborn areas of fat can persist no matter what you do. That can cause quite a bit distress for some patients. In cases where that happens, you have two options (depending on what the issue is):
- Liposuction: When it comes to eliminating stubborn areas of fat, there is no procedure better suited to that than liposuction. During this procedure, your surgeon will make a small incision in the targeted area, and then he will insert a small tube (called a cannula) to remove unwanted fat. Most patients recover from surgery (mostly) in a week or two, and the results are a slimmer body that still looks quite natural. That’s why liposuction is an incredibly popular option for a wide variety of patients. It’s a way to get rid of that persistent, stubborn area of fat and look great afterwards!
- Tummy Tuck: Now, tummy tuck is not designed to eliminate fat. It’s actually designed to eliminate excess skin. But many people actually confuse that excess skin for fat. That’s why it’s not going anywhere when you exercise or diet! Tummy tuck procedures will make the belly area look slimmer and more fit because it gets rid of that excess tissue that was getting in the way. Tummy tuck procedures are also often paired with liposuction, since the one will often affect the other. Tummy tucks are a popular procedure because there’s really no other way to get rid of that excess skin (and that skin can develop for a wide variety of reasons). So if you’re looking for a way to trim around your tummy, this procedure might be the way to do it.
Of course, slimming down isn’t the only New Year’s Resolution that many people have.
Resolution #2: Looking Healthier
The next resolution that many people have is pretty simple: get to the gym. Now, there are many reasons why one would want to go to the gym, and one of those reasons is to look healthier. (We should note here that, obviously, exercise is good for almost everyone, and hitting the gym three times a week is a great goal no matter what your resolution is.)
Even when you’re quite healthy, you might not look that way. There are a few surgical procedures that can help with that, especially if you’re looking to try something new (plastic surgery-wise) in 2017.
- Facelift: Sometimes you don’t necessarily look “healthy” because you have a few lines and wrinkles that are getting in the way. If those lines and wrinkles are pretty subtle, you might be able to get away with some Botox or Juvederm. But if those lines are deep and pervasive, a facelift procedures might be the best way to help yourself look young again. In some cases, those wrinkles are confined to the eyelids (though the effect is still the same). In those cases, a blepharoplasty (or eyelid lift) could have a vast improvement.
- Breast Lift: As you age, it’s not uncommon for the breasts to change orientation, pointing downwards and sagging. Using a breast lift to change the orientation of the breasts, to return a kind of youthful perkiness, can have a significant and positive impact for many patients. Breast lift is an incredibly popular procedure (and offers results that you couldn’t really get without surgery). It’s often paired with either a breast reduction or a breast augmentation. In either case, patients love the fact that at the end of the journey, they look a little perkier and a little more youthful!
