Once the end result is determined, incisions are made either through the inside of the mouth or the outside of the chin and surgeons may choose from a variety of materials for implants. Most often, the incision is made under the chin, so as to hide any scarring. Incisions made on the inside of the mouth have a history of higher rates of infection, due to the general hygiene of the mouth. This procedure makes for a strong, long-term implant that looks and feels as natural as your old chin.
