Radiesse

Collagen Rejuvenation

When it comes to facial fillers, there are a myriad of options. So many options, in fact, that it can be difficult to figure out what works best for your desired youthful look. If you’re looking for a solution on the more natural side of things, Radiesse could be right for you.

Radiesse functions on two levels. First, it is injected into the skin as a filler. As we grow old, our skin loses much of its structure, and this leads to wrinkles, sagging skin, and other outward signs of aging. Any filler will give your skin a fuller, more youthful look. Radiesse is different from most fillers in that it also encourages your own collagen to start growing again, rejuvenating some of the lost structure that leads to wrinkles in the first place. This makes Radiesse an excellent alternative to more invasive surgical procedure.

Dr. Polsen’s Clear Lake practice has experience with a wide variety of these liquid facelift options. If you’d like help figuring out which one is for you, don’t hesitate to talk. Contact our offices today for a confidential consultation.

Overview:

  • Injection of Radiesse is a liquid filler, making your face look more youthful
  • Radiesse also promotes the growth of new collagen cells for longer natural results
  • Recovery: 1-2 days

Who is a Good Candidate?

Most candidates who seek out Radiesse treatments, or other liquid facelift options have signs of aging on their faces such as wrinkles or sagging skin. Good candidates will be in generally good health, and Dr. Polsen will work you to ensure there are no allergies to Radiesse. You should also have realistic expectations of what the procedure will accomplish.

The Procedure

Radiesse injections are performed on a day patient basis and usually done in a relatively short amount of time. Dr. Polsen’s Houston Area staff will work with you to identify areas of your facial region that could use rejuvenation. Those areas will then be injected with Radiesse, and you should see results in short order. Often, Radiesse will be injected in a solution with lidocaine to reduce pain and discomfort.

Once Radiesse is injected into your skin, it acts as a filler while simultaneously encouraging your body to start growing collagen; eventually, the filler is absorbed into the body, leaving behind only your natural collagen. Radiesse results generally last for about a year, at which point further injections may be necessary to maintain desired results.

Recovery

Recovery for Radiesse treatments is generally a very quick one. In fact, this is why many patients elect for a liquid facelift in the first place. You should be able to return to work that day, though you may want to avoid heavy activity for a day or two. Dr. Polsen will supply you with a personalized recovery plan that will minimize your discomfort and maximize your results.
